Having built most of the Graf Spee with the wooden decks this just confirms to me painting the decks are far better than the wood veneer.

Painting around all those deck details can be tidious. The deck surface detail might be a factor in the decision to use a veneer deck.

Outfitting continues.....adding deck fittings and beginning construction of super structure parts. Many small parts which makes building slow and tidious.
