Site Migration Information Center

A site better than yesterday but the gallery is still klunkey .

Cheers, Christian B)

Hasn't it always been like that?

OK, I think I got all my chores done. I had to rebuild Jeffs, Terrys, James and Sauls galleries completely. Long story but I ended up transferring each and every image file one at a time (scripted but that's how it ran). If you see some broken links in the gallery let me know.

At this point I'm calling the migration to the new host server complete. :geek

Next stage will be upgrading all our systems to the latest and greatest versions. :captain

Looks like some of the links for the ribbons are broken, or am I just seeing it weird?

Get a screen shot of that and post it.

I've always instructed everyone to use the images on our server.
Which can be found here.
https://modelersalliance.org/images/badges/
But i've notice some will dload the image and host it on photobucket or somewhere else that I dont' have control over.

Grab a screenshot Mike, we'll sort it out. :geek

Ok - very weird, I went into my profile and updated all the links for my ribbons from modelers alliance.com to .org, and it fixed it, now I see everyone's ribbons correctly again. Weird.

.com redirects to .org automatically. Not sure what to tell you Mike, if you refresh your browser does some of the missing images show up?

I'm not seeing any broken images anywhere, not sure what to tell you about yours.

I might try to do a mirror is this is really a problem. That way both sites work as .org and .com. Any one else having this problem?

Everything looks good to me. But then I tend to totally shut my computer down when done doing stuff. I expect that does some reset stuff for things like this.

Just fired up the site on Firefox and everything looks good. Still having the problem on Safari, must be some Apple quirk. :idonno

Safari! All bets are off with Apple products. You do not know what I've gone through trying to support apple stuff at work on our guest wireless solution. Cisco doesn't even attempt to support them.

Apple probably thinks you shouldn't be looking at websites that redirect as it might pose a security risk and you really don't know what you're doing.... :vmad

Sorry, Apple just touches a nerve with me lately. :good:

I'm on Firefox and I'm seeing everything okay. everything loads very quickly too; more so than before on the old servers. Looking at all my ribbons and such though; I did complete every CTA but I only see two in my signature. I had thought that I had every CTA banner too, but they aren't showing. Also, I thought I had more ribbons from completed campaigns. I don't know which ones are missing as I keep forgetting what each one was for sometimes. I'll have to go through and see if I can figure it out. I'm not getting the funky symbols that Jeeves and Mike have had though.

I apologize for not answering sooner as I couldn't see most things on my brother's PC when I had the chance to log in. Parental controls and all for his seven boys and one girl. Now that I'm home, I get an accurate picture.

Bob, I know I haven't said it enough, but I am most deeply appreciative of all your hard work and dedication to us all in taking care of this site. I cannot express it enough. Thank you ever so much.

This site trips Parental Controls? :blink :blink :blink

Mark nothing should have changed in the signatures. I'm working to get the old site up and running under another name so I can test my upgrade path there without breaking this site. I'll take a look at your profile see if any ribbons are missing. All old campaigns are still there so if you have a completed build just let me know, kinda the honor system.

As far as the CTA banners, no need to put those in your signature. The banners were to promote the fundraisers as they were underway.

On my brother's PC that the kids use it does. For some reason if I ever clicked on a pic on this site to view it, the PC wold pop up a page saying it was porn and to enter a password (which I didn't know) to override it. I told my brother that the only porn on this site was model porn, to which he laughed. Anyway, it was no big deal.

As for the ribbons, I'll look again and just compare what my sig section looks like with all the ribbons. I'd love to have a "scrolling" sig line like Paul has that shows the finished model along with the badge and campaign name. Maybe someday I'll get it figured out.

Thanks again Bob!

Thanks for the complement Mark! Some of the very reasons you have stated is exactly why I have the animated gif file in my signature. Having the ribbons is nice, but what are they and what they were for gets lost. While there are folks that have done a lot of projects and earned a lot of ribbons it would be nice to have a clue as to what it all is.

As to what it is, I created an animated gif file. You have to have a graphics program that can do them. Lucky for me my main graphics program can and does do a huge amount of stuff. My signature file size is a touch over 1MB as it is now. I am still experimenting with it every time I do an upgrade. The big trick is to keep it a manageable size and still yet get the nice look.

If one were so inclined. You can hyperlink the image to your completed campaign.

Such as this.

Please do not ask me to do this for you.

I'm using Safari via Sierra on a MacBook Pro and everything is beautiful here, hasn't skipped a beat on my end.
