PART 6 COMPLETED BUILD Mk7c/41 U-Boat Diorama 1945 [Revell #05045 - 1/72]

:dude s
thanks Cheyanne (Brother fam), MrT and Ron. Great encouragement.
I need to finish the uboat and get some brass barrels for the guns.

Q: Do you think I should have figures using the antiaircraft guns, firing up at the plane or have the scene as everyone has gone below and it's about to dive??

Ian.

Good question, aircraft in that close would mean he some how snuck up on the U-Boat as they had not already dove. I vote crew manning the guns!

Thanks for the replies Randy and Dusan, appreciate your input and comments.
MP - I will have to source a good set of crew. Anyone know of any?

UPDATE

Hello everyone,
just a brief update. Nearly finished assembly on the Beaufighter. Lots of putty. Cut the rear wheel in half and away from the moulded undercarriage so as to get the correct in flight look. Also added some strip under the central rack.

Started on painting the deck of the uboat. Base is German Grey (Tamiya) - I am scratching it away , back to the plastic, and adding different wood colors in artists oils to simulate a deteriorating deck cover.

UPDATE

OK, even though it seems I am very quiet I have actually been plugging away, step by step, steadily getting the paint to the final stages. :soldier

The ocean is about 85% done.
This has been a ball-breaker - no 2 ways about it. I knew it would be hard when I began but really had not properly gauged how hard to get the ocean colors and the U-Boat colors to tie together.
I still need to add pure white but this cannot be done until the blue has fully dried. I will be finishing up with the waves and the wash against the boat, as well as the very fine water texture.
Next will be the gloss transparent surfaces for the water on the U-boat and the ocean.
I then need to add some figures , weapons and the rigging.
The U-Boat still needs a little work but is very close to finishing.
The process started with a Tamiya airbrushed flat Blue, this was then overpainted by hand with Artist oil Thalio Blue.
I then went back over this with Thalio Blue + White, scaling back the blue. After this had dried I commenced a light over coat in selected areas using TB + WHITE+Burnt umber. Once this has dried the final update will be with pure Titanium white.
