Believe it or not Grace took some of these photos. She such a good job hard to tell which ones she did.

Saul Jr. has competition (y)

I'd like to point out a small detail I learned from someone on another site a while back.

Douglas DC-3 actually predates the C-47 by about 4 years. A lot of DC-3s were drafted into service as C-47s. One way you can tell if it's a DC-3 or factory built C-47, the tail. Check it out.

see how you have a pointed tail, that means DC-3

Image is public domain from here.
See how the tail is cut off, that's factory built C-47.

Just wanted to pass that along, really doesn't make any difference to me, still has INVASION stripes. :pilot

Great information MP. I always thought DC-3 was civilian and C-47 was military. Learn something new everyday. (y)

Taht's correct Jeff, DC-3 is Civilian and C-47 is Military...now, to have fun, a lot of C-47 were sold off into civilian service. That's not to say that the DC-3 convert that is on display is not a C-47, it surely is cause it was mustered into service and retrofitted with things that made a C-47.

But the DC-3 was in civilian service prior to there being a C-47.
