1/48 Italeri A-36 Apache

/gallery/albums/userpics/10783/008~32.jpgI was perusing the model magazines at Barnes and Noble the other day trying to best decide how to spend a gift card I had received and came across a snippet on this kit. I had no idea Italeri was planning a re-box of the older Accurate Miniatures kit. Having enjoyed building their Mitchell, Avenger, and Dauntless kits, I wanted to try my hand at one of the original releases from A-M. I also wanted to enjoy the newer decals that Italeri was making partof the package.

------------------------------------

Italeri's rerelease comes with a beautiful set of decals with four schemes-- three USAAF schemes and one RAF scheme-- color seems crisp and detail is sweet:

There is one clear sprue featuring two separate canopies...detail seems okay with masking lines being very subtle:

There are three other sprues...one for the fuselage and nose:

The next sprue features the wing tops and bottoms-- as you can see, the dive brake is molded into the wing and the holes are all drilled out...so it would take some careful surgery to have them deployed if that was your desire...

And to get better detailed shots, I broke the last sprue into two shots-- the left side feaures the cockpit details and side panels, radios, and prop and gear parts.../gallery/albums/userpics/10783/013~9.jpg
And the right side contains parts for the tail wheel, exhaust stacks, gun barrels and bomb details. I don't know that I am too crazy about the separate bomb fins-- they ought to be a real trip to try to align correctly...I might just head to the spares box instead...we'll see... /gallery/albums/userpics/10783/014~6.jpgSo overall-- being a rebox, there is nothing all too new other than the decals...but seeing one of the original A-M kits back in circulation is pretty awesome and I am excited to add this more obscure early Mustang variant to my collection.
