Regards,

Its all his fault anyway.

The Texas Raider, hmmmm, no The Oklahoma Raider, err, um, yeah go on! blame the Aussie!!!!

Good going Paul, I wanted to try that preshade you did but the Tamiya rattle's would off stripped the acrylic, synthetic lacquer is not kind to other paints put on first!

Saul, that sharkmouth Raider is one of the meanest and best looking I've seen, Top Photo (y)

Paul,
Nice paint job so far, I really like the subtle pre-shading effect on it and that will look great on the finished model. :good:
I have seen other Skyraider models in similar paint schemes without the pre-shading and they look far too clean to look very realistic.

Not a chance Les, this will be dirtied up a bit but not filthy.

I had to get this far at least. the difficultistest part so far was the NMF ring around the cowl. a bit more masking and touch up paint, especially underneath, is due. So far I am pretty pleased on how this has turned out.
I cant get to the decal sheet right now so that will have to be a surprise. As far as ordnance goes, I hate ordnance ever since I was humping bombs and missiles during the 1st PG war.

Paul,
Even the very clean restored Skyraider seen in the above pictures is already showing signs of weathering after photography session flight. Imagine what they must have looked like in day to day ops! :blink
One good thing about these type of aircraft is they have character and part of that character is the exhaust stains and oil drips they usually had.

I wholeheartedly agree Les, however, there is war weary and there is fresh but a real filthy plane is not on the menu but it will be respectably dirty.

Back to the model....

An Able Dog reference thread is a good idea. Maybe there can be a sticky for that and a bunch of others.

Ian, Phil is the fella that you guys need to watch, his stuff will be a bit more accurate than mine.
