Grace's P-51

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
Here is the P-51 that my daughter Grace put together (I did the glueing) but she picked what parts would go on next, where they go, and then had to hold them until dry. Her first paint job was with some cheap paints for paper. They did not stick and started to peel off. I told her to wash it - she was more than happy too. Grace's quote was "I'm using pretty smelling soap so it will smell nice." Then she also took a bath with it. After that I let her use Tamiya paints. The bottom was painted mainly in "brown sparkle" (copper). She has painted the upper three times now. The last time she painted the wet paint with water. Needless to say she has been having a ball with it. Took to show and tell at school. She is still planning the paint job, but is now talking of wanting to build a truck.
The kit is the good o'l Revell 1/48 P-51D.

It has been so much fun watching her enjoy building and painting. Seeing her have so much fun and the really fun part (for me) is there is an on going story of why things have to be done that way. Just had to share this with everyone.

Nice work Grace :cheer: My daugther Jasmine likes helping me out in the model room as well. She likes to make tanks but were working on a dinosour at the moment. I will get her put in a photo of it when it's finished.

Grace, excellent work! My son recognized the airplane as he built one too! His kit was the Hobby Boss kit but he did not want to paint it. Instead, he took the sharkmouth decals from my Academy F-51D kit and applied them. It now hangs proudly over his bed!

Oh, I just read the next one is a truck... a well rounded modeler already aiming for the biathlon build.

Regards,

Hiya Grace :) .

I see the sign of pure genius at work there, as you work the same way I do. That is with all that table to work on, and yet you have worked yourself into just a tiny corner to use for getting stuff done ;) . But I don't have the pink jammies anymore
