The color mix that I use is Vallejo Field Grey #830 mixed with Vallejo Flat Flesh #955. The Field Grey can then be used as your medium shadow, add black for your deepest shadows and more Flesh for highlights. You also use Vallejo Green Grey #886 or Andrea Field Gray #XNAC04 as your base color -...

1/10th scale Royal Maine Bugler from CGS Military Miniatures. Sculpted by Carl Reid. Painted with Vallejo and Andrea acrylics. This was a fun one!

Andrea color #4 from the Flesh Paint Set -ACS01 was the base color for the flight suit. Shadows created by adding a bit of Vallejo Dark Camo Brown, highlights by adding Vallejo Flat Flesh - both in varying amounts. Once dried I applied a VERY thin coat of Vallejo Smoke to stain the colors a bit...

I picked up this 1/32nd Von Richthofen kit from Model Cellar for the store, checked it out and decided to buy it for myself! Painted today in four hours with Vallejo and Andrea acrylics.

Just about finished!!

Andy - I think that it works great in all scales. You just have to actually increase the contrast on smaller scales to 'em "pop"!!!

Tom - it is actually done with acrylics. I only use oils when I paint horses now...

Pointillism is a painting technique in this particular application of using small "dots" of varying tones of the primary color (in this case Horizon Blue) to achieve a realistic worn/wool effect. I use a good quality brush that is past it's prime and begin with a tone that is darker than the...

Much work to do still on the tunic as the base color has been painted so that I can now begin the shading, highlighting and "wool effects" using pointillism techniques. This is a great new kit from Nemrod and you can get yourself one right here if interested...

This one is from Jeff Shiu and requires a bit more work than the Jon Smith kits. I replaced the helmet, gas mask can, and the canteen with JSM parts which I prefer. Also removed the seams on the back of the boots and scribed new side seams which is correct for this period. Now on to the trench...
