    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

Sweet! Even today you can see these little tugs pushing planes off gate at occasionally at YWG. Nothing larger than CRJ`s mind you but it does happen. We must have a brake rider in the cockpit while moving WestJet 737`s. Though I know some companies take the risk and reposition aircraft with no...

    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

Love the tug MP. Chip it up good. Are you going to add wheel chocks to the Corsair? Funny to hear about your issues with pre shading. I just don't bother any more. Like you, I was also never quite satisfied with how it looked. This often lead to a dozen more thin layers of paint while post...

    CTA Entry - Dewertus - Spitfire Mk.IX >>DONE<<

Re: CTA Entry - Dewertus - Spitfire Mk.IX The twin colour bottom reminds me of the early war black and white Spitfires. Lookin good. matt

    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

Don't know if you want to play with the blue any more but I like spraying on a few thin layers of various shades of the base colour after initial shading. This both adds more depth to the finish but also helps blend everything together a little. But these layer I'm speaking of are quite thin...

    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

That`s the great thing bout this hobby. If you really want a wood deck, paint it like wood. matt

    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

Did a search via google. Some say they have evidence that all (American at least) carriers had stained blue decks from the start of the war. Others say that early on the decks were left bare. Though they would naturally weather quite quickly. I've no idea if this site has valid information but...

    Tamiya F4U-2 Corsair

Thank you. I used Alclad Chrome. It is sensational stuff. Just apply it over a shiny black acrylic paint and you will achieve amazing results. It really does look like chrome if you prepare the part carefully. matt

    CTA Entry - f1matt - Tamiya Lotus 49

Pretty sure this kit came out in 1968. Back when the '49 was still racing. This is my Dad's favorite Grand Prix car of all time and Jim Clark was and still is his favorite driver. I'm planning on this being a Christmas gift for him this year. So please internet, let's keep this between us ok...

    CTA Entry - f1matt - Tamiya Lotus 49

Still waiting on a few aftermarket bits to arrive before I start. But I figure I can get begin the thread with a couple pics. The kit came with decals and stickers to mark the Lotus. Even has tobacco decals! I managed to source some high quality replacements. A size comparison...

    CTA Build Moon Puppy Corsair

You mentioned how the pilots wouldn't all be together looking posed as per the box art. Normally you would likely be correct... unless they were say, being posed by a LIFE magazine photographer on the ship? Just a thought. Are you going to use the tug? While modern, I do drive tugs at work so...

CALL TO ARMS CAMPAIGN SIGN UP

So I'm just going to enter one kit. With my rate of production anything more would be a gamble to finish on time. Tamiya large 1/12 scale Formula 1 car Lotus 49 driven by Jim Clark in 1967. He did not win the title that year but did have four race victories. So far I have the kit and a set of...

Task Force Canada HMMWV - Afghanistan 2002

Again, many thanks! Hi James. I think I may wanna tackle this subject again. Only this time with all the goodies now available. Correct HMMWV, tires, lots of figures and equipment. Who knows, maybe there is even a second photo out there some where? If anyone has any photos of JTF-2 operated...

Mk. IX Spitfire - 411 Squadron RCAF - Polly

Much thanks all! To be honest i could have made the stripes quite a bit sloppier. Maybe next time. Would love to get my grubby paws on one of Tamiya`s big Spits. I`m surprised no one asked about the flaked roundel on the starboard wing. And in truth that was an accident. Had removed some tape...

Task Force Canada HMMWV - Afghanistan 2002

Thanks! The camo roll is just rolled up gauze soaked in water and white glue. The texture was added using spice leaves. And believe it or not the book from which I found the photo stated the maple leaves were in fact red. Though I can`t say for certain if this is correct. matt
