Hey Bob, Still on the workbench, awaiting paint. The plan has been to wait until I get this IAR-81C review build to the paint stage and do them both at the same time since they share an uppersurface color :) Unfortunately, after being out of the country for a couple weeks and in the busy...

    THE "UNBUILDABLE" KIT?

Personally, I don't think I've ever seen anyone ever refer to a kit as "unbuildable". What I have seen is some folks say a kit "is not worth building" - which is a very different thing. Now in spite of the fact that many folks now can discuss modeling on web forums or at club meetings, etc...

Curtiss P-6E Hawk 1/32 Silver Wings

Nice review Gary! Bob, this, and all Silver Wings kits, don't have the holes pre-drilled (I guess it's hard to mold/cast that way), but they do have a small "divot" in the spot where you need to drill the hole, so you don't actually need to figure out where to drill :) Doug

    Azur 1/32 I.A.R.-81C Review

Nice review! I know that writing them isn't as easy as some would think, and you've done an excellent job of covering all a prospective buyer would want to know. I've starting building one but got sidetracked by work being busy these last two weeks. Looking forward to seeing your build of...

I'm slow, but I got the hint about the Gator Glue :) Now just be sure to send me my check for mentioning it ;) The Black Mr Surfacer 1500 came out within the past year. It's in the normal jar, and I thinned it with lacquer thinner and put it on with my Paasche H (as I do the regular Mr...

On to the painting! I decided to go with the never-before-seen night fighter scheme: Just kidding. It's Mr Surfacer 1500 Black Primer. I heard good things about it, so I wanted to try it out. We'll see how well it works ;) The nice thing is with a black base, it should be easier to...

Thanks guys! Sorry for the long delay in posting. I haven't given up on this model yet, just been busy with work and another review build. I'm still not 100% on the latches myself, but I sanded them a bit and they look a little better. I was also not happy with the quarter windows, and kept...

Thanks guys, getting things finished up and ready for paint! I added the PE latches to the fuselage spine panels. As with most of the kit, they are designed to be shown opened up, but you need to fold them up to have them in the closed position. I think they are a little thick because of...

Thanks Bob, its really not that hard to get together, just needs some thought and patience, and a small amount of "modeling skills" :) Small update today. Still sticking things on to get the model ready for paint. I added the PE flaps to the bottom of the wing. Fit is a little tricky as I've...

    Revell Ju-52

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you have a good inventory so your insurance can replace them for you. I lost a bunch of kits and references in a flood in 2009 (which my insurance did not cover) so I can empathize :(

After finding the missing part, I wasted no time in sticking on the model before it disappeared into the void again ;) I was able to attach it the same way I did the other two sections, which was to attach one side, let it dry, and then push/pull the other side into position. Here we have the...

    1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4B (CyberHobby kit)

Thanks for your kind words guys :) Tom, The CyberHobby 109E is probably the best out there in terms of accuracy, and second in terms of "buildabilty". The Trumpeter kit I understand is easier to build, although it looks a bit off shape-wise to me. Both the CyberHobby and Eduard kits are...

    1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4B (CyberHobby kit)

Thanks for your very kind words everyone! This is one of my favorite builds :) Ian, I use an H&S Infinity for the detail work, and a Paasche H for the larger areas. It really isn't too hard of a scheme to paint. I painted the fusleage RLM65, then I roughly marked the RLM71 lines on the...

    1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4B (CyberHobby kit)

Here are some finished photos of my CyberHobby/Dragon 1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109E kit. I have completed the kit in the markings of Leutnant Heindel, Adjutant, Stab II/Jadgeschwader 54, based at Arad, Romania in March 1941. I used the excellent Hussar decal sheet. I only added the aerial (with...

    Meng 1/32 Me163B "Komet"

Quick update: So after looking for 4 days (including dumping and going through the full trash can next to my modeling desk), I decided to take the part from a second kit to keep the build moving along. I cut the part from the sprue and placed it on the model roughly in position, put the sprue...
