Adventures in soldering : The GT40 Project

Hi Folks,

I probably don't need to start another project when I have unfinished ones but.....


Seem to be stuck in the automotive genre.

Going to build 1969 GT40 chassis P1076. This is the sister car to the famous two time Le Mans winning car.

Starting point will be the 1/25th scale Fujimi kit. This one is a fairly simple curbside model but that is okay as I will use just the body.

Plans for these cars are some of the most closely guarded secrets on the planet :( :(

Did find enough ref. on the web and a book or two.




The heart of this car is the 'tub' chassis.

Building up three layers of brass to replicate the pressed sheet metal bottom...

These cars had a central tunnel slightly offset that carried water and oil pipes, the large side pods are furl cells....

Adding the lower seat back piece between the fuel cells and building up the framework for the dashboard..
