Revell/Monogram 1/48 F-102A Reissue

Revell had planned to reissue the F-102A with the early Case X wing with the appropriate newly researched and printed decals. Somewhere between planning and production, the molds for the Case XX wing were brought out and used. The glitch makes the decals included in the kit inaccurate for the plastic. Aftermarket decal makers have already begun preparing appropriate Case XX sheets.

Cheers,
Rich

On the Case X wing, the outboard edge of the elevons were perpendicular to the trailing edge and the leading edge camber ended at the wingtips.

The Case XX had the outboard edge of the elevons extended by running it parallel to the leading edge and the leading edge camber was continued onto the wingtip.

Cheers,
Rich

That was a bit of a whoopsie. I'm sure Revell was none too happy about that.

Thanks for explanation of the difference between the wings.
