Arrived 3 March, 2017 in the company of fellow Surgeons Don & George. We had a fun, flawless, fair weather ride to Madison WI, filled with old horrible jokes, puns, and music. Having visited the LHS's here before, we decided to save our resources for the Show.

I got caught at our Mobile Command Center, chatting with Iron Mike, checking e-mail and writing another Love Letter to my Beloved from far away. Friday night "Wind-down" is well underway here at the Super 8 South! :drinks

No monkeyshines going on there, I know. :D Hopr you guys had fun, wish I coulda made the trip. B)

Monkey shining commenced following the former post! Madison was most warm and welcoming despite of true March like temperatures. I notice how often the clouds pay no heed to the forecaster's opinion! As is usual, I didn't take pictures of all the entries, just the models that caught my eye. Oddly enough, most of them were award winners.
On to the Pictures!! :yipee

100_2739.JPG

Contest room vendor had prints, autographed and otherwise. Also original sealed Monogram Classic kits. Yup, you can't tell from my picture, but the 1959 Monogram PA-54 1/4 scale SBD Dauntless was priced at $70.00! :blink I would have been surprised in many of these sold, given recent re-release for less than $20.00. :hmmm

Chris Grco's award winning Red Cross 1/35 Clubwagon. SWELL!! :good:

I know a lot of guys don't think twice about it, but I think it is very disrespectful to pack-up your models during The Awards Presentation. Pay Attention! Congratulate your brethren! Don't be a Dickweed!!
I gave John Kruger some static about it, and he decided to wait. I told him if his FW-190D-9 won an award somebody might want a picture of it, and appeciate his Model Flugzeug. Then..............
100_2761.JPG

This was JOhn's first use of his airbrush, and he did the camo free-hand! Really a nice model! (I think the cannon barrels are too small in 1/48 scale) AND He won a Gold Award! SEE!?!!!?! Now John Kruger is FAMOUS, because he extended the courtesy of waiting to pack up and leave!!! :good: (y) :ro:
100_2757.JPG

Joe lotz won an award for almost all his models and He won a bunch of Raffle prizes too. He packed up before Awards so he only gets one picture posted. Meng 1/35 Panzerhaubitze 2000, in Dutch markings. Silly Joe!!

There is SOMETHING very wrong with the judges in Mad City! Look and see!

TLAR Models 1/700 Shrimpin' Boat "Jenny", Silver award.
100_2760.JPG

"Terror of The Yazoo River" 1/600 CSS Arkansas civil war iron-clad, Silver Award. No, I didn't pack up until AFTER the awards. I clapped & hooted as best I am able (You all know me!) for other modelers. I never expected to have any awards bestowed on my esoteric waterline ship models. I was humbled by their applause.
100_2764.JPG

George & I won our share of raffle prizes as well. I found a fun bottle of Spanish Sangria and some Bucky Badger Wisconsin cheese curds to bring home to my Sweetheart.
100_2749.JPG

100_2755.JPG

Surgeons in attendance! We few. We happy Few. We Band of Surgeons. For he today, that enters his models with Me shall be my Brother. Gentlemen abed in Des Moines shall think themselves accursed, they were not here, and hold their model skills cheap whiles any speaks that played with us, Upon The 2017 Mad City Modelers show!
Special thanks to the Mad City Bunch for putting on such a fine show, and their always warm Wisconsin hospitality!
Vignet? Vinyet? Vignette? Oh bugger! Who cares about pronunciation anyway!
It was great fun!!

That's all I have to say about that.

Congrats! Packing up during the awards ceremonies? In Russian, that would be nekulturny. If you've been at a show all day, what's a few more minutes of being polite and acknowledging the winners? Show some respect and class, who knows, it might be your name they call? B)

Congrats!

Not many people can claim their medals are bigger than the models! :drinks

Thanks for posting Chris . Some really nice builds there (y)

Some way off the road wingy thingies too . Nice to see (y) (y)

Cheers, Christian B)
