Textured Rolling Pins

Just saw someone using one of these on Facebook and checked out enay. Really kind of neat. Looks good for 1/35 and mayve the hexagons would do for 1/32 Russian airfields.

Texture stamps have been around as long as clay, but that's a twist I haven't seen.

I don't know why they chose to use PMMA, there's not reason to go that extra step for clear in this case, but that's their choice.

I think I'd still stick with a thin silicone stamp and just roll behind it, more control.

Maybe it's the golly gee factor in marketing, regarding the clear. Pretty neat idea. (y)

Definitely.

I just see it from the production side. Methyl Methacrylates bring in a whole new host of toxins into the process when compared to a urethane resin and the only advantage is being clear. Clear also is harder because of bubbles, so longer vacuum times, etc.

I've used them in the past with good results, but it's not worth it if they can be avoided. I was originally going to release the Zombie busts with an optional set of glow in the dark eyes, but that'd require a clear resin to suspend the phosphorescent powder, so I opted against.
